Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Blactrium?

Blactrium is a platform dedicated to discovering, supporting, and reviewing Black-owned businesses and professionals. It helps users find trusted services while giving Black entrepreneurs a space to showcase their work and build credibility through community feedback.

Who is Blactrium for?

Blactrium is for:

  • Black professionals and business owners who want visibility, reviews, and connection

  • Customers and clients looking to discover and support Black-owned businesses

  • Communities that value trust, transparency, and collective growth

What is your definition of a Black Business?

Blactrium exists to spotlight and support businesses built by Black professionals.
To ensure transparency and trust, we recognise four clear categories.
Each business on the platform will identify which category applies to them.

1. Black-Owned (51%+)

A Black-Owned business is one where:

  • Black individuals own 51% or more of the company

  • They have strategic decision-making power

  • They are actively involved in day-to-day operations

  • They receive the majority of financial benefit

This is the highest certification standard recognised across the UK, US, and Caribbean.

2. Black-Founded

A Black-Founded business was started by one or more Black founders, even if:

  • Ownership has since diversified

  • Investment or partnerships reduced their percentage stake

  • They are no longer involved in daily operations

This recognises the impact of the founder’s vision and contribution.

3. Black-Led

A Black-Led business is primarily guided by Black leadership. This means:

  • A Black CEO, director, or senior leadership team

  • Black professionals holding key decision-making roles

  • The business’s strategy, culture, and direction reflect Black leadership influence

Ownership does not need to be Black.

4. Community Ally

A Community Ally business is not Black-owned, founded, or led, but:

  • Actively supports the Black community

  • Employs Black staff in meaningful roles

  • Demonstrates cultural respect and inclusive values

  • Contributes positively to economic empowerment

Is Blactrium only for Black businesses?

Yes. Blactrium exists to centre and uplift Black businesses and professionals. This focus helps strengthen economic empowerment and visibility within the Black community.

How do reviews work?

Users can leave honest reviews based on real experiences. Reviews help:

  • Build trust for customers

  • Increase visibility for businesses

  • Encourage accountability and quality service

We actively moderate reviews to keep them respectful, fair, and authentic.

Can I respond to reviews as a business owner?

Yes. Business owners can respond to reviews, allowing you to:

  • Thank customers

  • Address concerns

  • Share context or updates

Constructive dialogue is encouraged.

How does Blactrium prevent fake or harmful reviews?

Blactrium is committed to keeping the platform respectful and fair. While we don’t currently use automated moderation tools, we review reported content manually and take action where reviews are abusive, discriminatory, or clearly misleading.

Our approach is guided by community values, accountability, and good faith participation. As Blactrium grows, we may introduce additional moderation processes to better support the community.

Can I report a review or profile?

Yes. If you see content that violates our guidelines, you can report it directly through the platform for review by our team.

Does Blactrium sell my data?

No. We do not sell personal data. Your information is used only to operate and improve the platform, in line with our privacy policy.

How can I support Blactrium?

You can support Blactrium by:

  • Leaving thoughtful reviews

  • Sharing businesses you love

  • Supporting Black-owned businesses you discover here
